Safety and the speed of flexibility (8/12)

When did you last hear something from your team that genuinely surprised you?

Something that changed how you understood a problem or you wouldn't have known had you not been told?

Thinking hard to remember? That’s a flag.

Information moves differently in healthy organizations than in strained ones. People in healthy organizations don't know more, but they feel safe enough to share what they know.

It’s safe to bring forward observations and concerns: Decision are made with the full picture; Risks reach those who need to know; Crises are averted because someone saw the problem coming and said so.

Back to that flag: What decisions would get made faster? What risks would surface earlier? What would your team bring to you that they're currently solving around you, or not solving at all?

Psychological safety supports the information system. And like any system, its health can be assessed by what it produces.

So - When did you last hear something that genuinely surprised you?
